This is the title of a presentation that I gave at LUXLive on Wednesday 19th November at ExCel, London.
Downlighting is an itch that demands to be scratched. As an architect friend said to me recently: 'the problem is; any fool can design a downlight scheme' - and I can't argue with that!
It doesn't have to be like this - there are other lighting techniques available. But are we grown-up enough to embrace them?
Since the original presentation in November last year, more interest has been expressed in the subject of Designing Without Downlights.
I'll be speaking to these RIBA branches early in 2015:
Cornwall branch: 10th February
Exeter branch: 27th February
