The Cutting Edge

In my more precious moments I believe that the studio system used by Renaissance artists – apprentices developing their skills on mixing paint, getting the chance to work on background, advancing onto folds in clothing until you got to paint a few putti all by yourself – must have made a wonderful  environment for the would-be artist. We don’t go in much for that kind of thing these days but having a deep appreciation and understanding of your medium is vital if the designer is to have any hope for success. That’s what these pages are about – me talking about the things I work with. Its a kind of blog, if you like.
