Diary for January 2009

20th Gis a Job!

There are days – most days, come to think about it – when I suspect our government of wilfully misunderstanding what it means to be in business. The unforeseen price of a gastric bug is that I’ve sat through interviews over the past few days with politicians of all stripes calling for VAT holidays, corporation tax fixes and all manner of flummery to ‘help’ the business sector avoid more redundancies. Let me help these guys out here; the thing that keeps people in their jobs is WORK. Designers n...

8th Save the Filament!

A ‘friend’ rang yesterday suggesting that I go to my local library and steal their copy of the Daily Mail, where I would find something to my advantage. What larks, eh, Pip! Now I can get around to creating that new Facebook page of my seventeen-year-old self. Ah, to be a teenager again. How happy...

1st As Easy as Falling off a Cliff

I’m sorry. What was I saying? It’s just that it’s been one of those years when you come out the end wondering which direction you were facing when you went into it. There’s probably some appropriate Dickensian turn of phrase for it, but I just can’t bring it to mind. I mean; can you remember what you were doing last January? All that talk still of expansion and ‘continuing market development’ – but its like the waistbands that you get on M&S jeans; you’re doing fine ‘til the day your denims...
